Mouda is a small town and a tehsil in Nagpur district of Maharashtra under Ramtek subdivision. The nearest city to this small town is Nagpur, which is around 32 km away. Under the tehsil of Mauda there are total 41 villages and in an average, the tehsil is famous for its fertile land. Located on the bank of Kanhan River, National Highway 6 has passed this small town Mouda and because of the position of NH6 the communication of this city to other parts of the state as well as of the country has become smooth and easier.

Demographics of Mouda

The total area under this tehsil is 61293.17 hectares and the total population of this town as per latest census is 37554. Because of its fertile land, the main occupation of the local population was agriculture. However, after launching of NTPC’s Thermal Power project people of Mouda have got involved in industry related occupation other than agriculture. Average Rainfall in this area is assessed around 1224.3mm. The town is positioned at the height of 312 meter elevation from the average sea level.

Geographical location

The nearest cities to this town are Nagpur, Bhiwandi, Kamahi, Savner, and Umred. Geographical border wise the Mouda is bounded by Nagpur Taluka toward East, Kamptee Taluka toward Northeast, Kalmeshwar Taluka toward North, and Saoner Taluka toward North-western side. Here Marathi is the main language for communication.

Administration

Mouda Panchayat runs the administration of this small town. The district headquarter of this tehsil is Nagpur and is located around 17 km away from Mouda. State capital Mumbai is located at a distance of 792km from Mauda. Bhiwandi is 431.1 miles away from Mouda. There is 18 Gram Panchayats in this tehsil. Mouda has a police station, one post office located at the center position of the town. Mouda houses 10 general hospitals and 2 veterinary health care centers.

Industry

Mouda is quite strong at its industrial base. Recently NTPC Limited has set first 2 units of 500 MW power generators nearby Mouda Town. Polyester Division of Reliance Industries Limited is located here on Ramtek road.  Other than these two blue chip brands, Pennar Aluminium, a company of Aditya Birla Group is located on Ramtek Road and Polyester Division of Visaka Industries Ltd is located at Bhandra Road near NH-6. These industries has helped people of Mouda to avail excellent employment.

NTPC Power Project Mouda

Recently, Mouda is being one of the major power production pints due to recently established thermal power plant by NTPC, the largest power producer in India. Mouda power project is the first power plant of NTPC in Maharashtra. The project has two 500 MW units in stage I out of which one has started operating on 2011while the second phase of the plant has become active in 2013.Hon’ble union minister of state for power Jyotiraditya Scindia laid the foundation stone for this project. The resources of this thermal power project is supplied from local resources like coal is being supplied from Western Coal Fields and Mahandi and water is being supplied from nearby Gosikurd dam.

Religious places around Mouda

There are a few sacred places around this small town which are known for their religious significance. These are;
 
Shrikrishna Mandir: the temple is pretty old and locales believe that the idol of the temple was explored form a well. It is located just beside the Gram Panchayat center. During Shravan month Gopal Kala and Janmastami are celebrated here by local people.

Durga Mata Mandir is situated at Gujari Bazar at the downtown of the Mouda town. Here Navaratri Utsav is celebrated with great enthusiasm.

Vitthal Rukmini Temple is located on the Gopal Chawk near Gujari Bazar.

Datta Mandir is positioned on a rock and the rock is positioned within the middle of Kanhan river on a rock. During Vasant Panchami local people arrange jatra here.

Paramatma Ek Sewak Temple is one of the most famous temples of Mouda neighborhood and it is located only one kilometer away from Mouda Central Bus Stand on Bhandara road crossing on National Highway.

The temple of Takya Warcha Maroti is the oldest Hanuman Mandir of this locality and this sacred temple is situated beside the new bridge of Kanhan River.

How to reach Mouda

You can reach Mouda by air; the nearest Airport is Dr Babsaheb Ambedkar International Airport 37 km away from Mouda. Nearest Railway station of Mouda is Tarsa. You can reach Mouda by bus from either Nagpur or Bhandara. However, local people mostly use motorcycles and scooters for local transport.
