The total population of Kalmeshwar, as per the 2001 census, was 17,241 of which 52% were males and 48% were females. The average literacy rate of the city is 77% with 71% female literacy rate and 82% male literacy rate. The official language of the city is Marathi. However, it also includes a good number of Hindi speaking population.
